Merriwood will offer three models of unique homes that have been custom designed to be sustainable, comfortable, durable, healthful, and embody the highest standards of architecture, construction, and interior design. The included features of these homes are anything but standard….photovoltaic solar power, passive solar design, backup battery power systems, super high efficient framing, modern wood-burning stoves, sustainable manufacturing methods, secured storage rooms, non-toxic materials, and low-impact design that works with the water cycle.

The construction will incorporate WELL design standards to create a safe and healthful indoor environment. The aesthetic of the homes and community buildings are rustic-modern, blending nature, technology, functionality, and elegant simplicity.

All models are calibrated to deliver a comfortable life in an unpaved setting. Screened-in porches, mudrooms, generous decks and patios, and firepits, are among the amenities that make these homes a practical base for comfortable living in the Maine wilderness.

The layout, look, and feel of Merriwood is high-end rustic, with homes and developed areas following the natural contours of the landscape. The developed areas will have a natural aesthetic that integrates into a much larger parcel that has a mix of farmland, forest and recreational amenities. The lake, trails, and other amenities are all accessible within a short walk.

Our 50 homes are situated on one-to-three acre plots divided between two clusters, each offering a unique experience. The western cluster is close to Sundragon Lodge, the lakefront, and other amenities, with a more neighborly experience. The eastern cluster offers more seclusion, a country and wilderness feel, with larger lots and proximity to the main working farm. Both clusters still provide easy access to the whole of the community and its wealth of opportunities to engage with nature and your neighbors.

Both residential areas will feel lush and wild, offer privacy in large lots, and community vibrancy with homes a short stroll, bike ride, or electric cart or scooter ride, from the community lodge and common areas.
